As a teacher for 24 years, then, it was a dream come true to see our conventional classroom system transform to Subject Based Classroom (SBC). Teachers take ownership of their own classrooms and altered it to their “Subject-Classroom”. It was not an easy task but the outcome is tremendous. Every entity in school had equal share to the success of the SBC system in my school. As the coordinator to kick off this system, I had learned to set a very positive environment so that this new system would be embraced well by my peer teachers. Through the TSP, we, the teachers, learned a lot about how a physical environment would affect students’ learning progression. We also learned that it is not only the arrangements of the desks and chairs which signified 21st Century Learning. There are much more beyond the physical set up within the physical environment of a classroom. There were rewards, acknowledging students work, assessment for learning, resources and most importantly, the emotional environment to ensure the teaching and learning process is carried out at the best.
