LeapEd Bright Ideas
PAY for your MEAL!
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Collect a good amount of coins and notes before doing this activity.
- You can also use toy money or make your own play-money out of coloured paper, cardboard, etc. - match the colour with real money e.g. RM1 = blue strips, RM5 = green card, etc.
- A priced menu OR simply price the meal items you prepare.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Tell the family they need to buy their meals (lunch or dinner).
- Set up the meal items on the table or kitchen counter, with prices on them.
- Everyone calculates the total cost of what they want to eat and drink.
- Everyone counts out their total amount due, and 'pays' for their meal.
- Sit down together, eat, and enjoy!
This can be a fun, family activity. Children can learn how to add and subtract money, give change, and how to manage their money, wisely. Give everyone turns to be the cashier, if the activity is successful after the first try!
